Dr. Ruitu Lyu
Adviser
Dr. Ruitu Lyu is a bioinformatician and molecular biologist with over 12 years of experience in the life sciences and biomedicine. He earned his Ph.D. at the Institutes of Biomedical Sciences (IBS) of Fudan University under the mentorship of Prof. Yang Shi, focusing on the epigenetic regulation of tumorigenesis. His research explored how DNA and histone modifications affect gene expression, providing him with a deep understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind cancer and cell development.
Â
In 2018, Dr. Lyu joined the University of Chicago as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Chuan He's lab, where he played a key role in developing cutting-edge genomic technologies and bioinformatics tools. These innovations, including KAS-seq, spKAS-seq, KAS-ATAC-seq, m1A-seq, and f5C-seq, enabled more precise genome-wide mapping of regulatory elements, transcriptional activity, and RNA modifications.
Â
Dr. Lyu has published 36 peer-reviewed papers, 13 as first or co-first author, in prestigious journals such as Nature, Nature Methods, Science Advances, and Nature Communications. His work has been cited over 3,000 times, highlighting his significant contributions to epigenetics, genomics, RNA biology, and cancer research.
